Custom Sofa Slipcover in Industrial Apartment
We were renovating our very first apartment in Melbourne and did what every couple did - quibble about designs. One thing we could agree on though, was sticking to our tight budget, so instead of buying a new sofa we decided to get custom made slipcovers for our old IKEA sofa.
Imagine being told that a set of custom made sofa covers would cost upwards AU$850 for workmanship alone. Fabrics start at AU$50/meter AND it would take up to 8 weeks to complete.
“Holy cow!” was our first response, followed by “Okay, what can we do about this?”

The Spark

We took it upon ourselves to make our very own slipcover, with the help of some YouTube tutorials and a secondhand sewing machine. It took more than a few tries to get it right, but we got there and eventually started making them for our friends and neighbours.

We worked out of our garage with another two seamstresses, while juggling our day jobs, and managed to set up our first e-store in 2008. Before we knew it, people outside Australia started asking if we could save their IKEA sofas too.

By 2010, we graduated to owning and managing a workshop full time in Hong Kong, China. This has allowed us the freedom to create and innovate in line with our values, standards and ethics.

As a humble team of 15 now, we’re making it our personal mission to help every homeowner rediscover their living space. One that’s simple, beautiful and practical.

How it started

Our Principles

Guaranteed Satisfaction

Guaranteed Satisfaction

We make covers that’ll put a smile on your face. Hopefully you'll be blown away by how much of a difference slipping our covers on can make.

We understand that life gets messy sometimes so we make products that thrive on tough love. That you and your family can live on - without fear.

Fair Pricing

Affordable Price

We make custom products that are affordable. No troublesome sales consultants, no crazy marked-up designer textiles.

Customer focus

Customer Focus

We treat our customers the way we’d like to be treated - with honesty, respect, and additional kindness.

What you won’t find here

Hundreds of funky designer patterns in every spectrum of the colour wheel. Sure, that Yellow Chevron looks cool today but in 2 years - maybe not.

Green, organic, recycled, tree-hugging textile. It may feel like you're saving the world, but pure organics without any blend simply won’t cut as excellent upholstery.

Bad Karma

We take great pride in product quality as we use them for ourselves too. So if for any reason that you don’t like what we delivered, we’ll bend over backwards to make sure your frown gets turned upside down.

About the Founders

With backgrounds in architecture and psychology, Rachel applies her eye for design and sense of style across every facet of our operation. From pattern making to product design, she’s one of the main reasons why our products look and function at their current lofty standard.

Former advertising executive, Henry looks after the day to day operations, logistics and our customer’s overall happiness. A true believer of word-of-mouth marketing, he decided from day one that most of our marketing dollars should be spent on servicing our customers better.

We love DIY, painting, measuring, hacking, decorating, and re-decorating. We actually started this as a passion project, but eventually found ourselves becoming the small family business we are today.

As a husband and wife team working side by side, we learned many things. We learned that people’s time is important, that turning a house into a home takes a lot of effort, creativity and emotional investment.

We learned that everyone is secretly a designer; that they love creating a space that is a reflection of themselves, the people they love and what they care about.

We also learned that anything custom made should not cost an arm and a leg. That’s why we want to be the ones making beautiful slipcovers for you and your family.

Our products are designed to belong in a truly lived-in home - one that’s a little bit messy but filled with love and life.
